Terms
The terms on which Heytora is offered. Written in plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. By creating an account or using Heytora, you agree to them.
These policies describe how Heytora works today. They have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and they will be updated before paid plans open. Material changes will always be dated below.
Who we are
Heytora is made and operated from South Africa. Our registered company name, registration number and address will be published here before paid plans open. In these policies, “Heytora”, “we” and “us” mean the company that operates Heytora.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 to use Heytora. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they accept these terms for you.
If you use Heytora for a business, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.
Your account
You need an account to use Heytora. Give us a real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.
What you need
Heytora runs on Windows 11. It is not available for macOS or Linux, and we are not promising a date for either.
You need a working internet connection and, today, your own Google API key for the Gemini models that answer your questions. Your use of that key is between you and Google: you are responsible for any charges Google makes, and Google's terms apply to what you send it.
Your licence to use it
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Heytora on computers you control, for as long as you have an account and comply with these terms.
You may not resell it, rent it out, pass it off as your own, or take it apart to build a competing product, except where the law allows you to regardless.
The state of the software
Heytora is new, and it will have faults. Features may change, and some may be removed. Where a capability is not built yet, we say so rather than implying it ships.
AI makes mistakes
Heytora's answers come from AI models, and they can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, however confident they sound. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
Nothing Heytora says is professional advice. The packs for accounting, tax, payroll and other work draft things for you to check; they do not replace an accountant, lawyer or other professional, and you remain responsible for what you file, send or pay.
What it does on your behalf
Heytora can act on your computer — clicking, typing, opening apps, running background tasks — when you ask it to. It acts as you, with whatever access you already have, and it asks before it acts.
You remain responsible for what it does in your name. Check its work before it matters, particularly anything that sends, deletes, pays or publishes.
Using it fairly
Use Heytora on computers and accounts you are entitled to use, and within the law that applies to you.
Do not use it to reach material you have no right to, to act on systems you do not have permission to act on, to break another service's terms, or to create anything unlawful, harmful or abusive.
Do not try to overwhelm the service, get around plan limits, or use Heytora to build a dataset for training a competing model.
Your content
What is on your screen, what you ask, and what Heytora produces for you are yours. Using Heytora does not give us ownership of any of it.
You give us only the permission we need to process it in order to provide the service, as our Privacy Policy describes.
Our side of it
The Heytora name, the mark, the app and this site are ours. Using the product does not transfer any of that to you.
If you send us feedback, we may act on it without owing you anything for it.
Plans and payment
Heytora has a free plan and paid plans, each with the monthly limits shown on our pricing page. We may change the free plan, and we will tell you before a change reduces what it includes.
Paid plans are sold by our reseller, Paddle, which is the merchant of record for all orders. Paddle handles payment, invoicing, sales tax and VAT, and Paddle's own buyer terms apply to your purchase alongside these.
A paid plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before the change applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
Ending it
You can stop using Heytora, uninstall it, and close your account at any time.
We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it. If we stop offering Heytora altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and refund any unused part of a paid plan.
Liability
Heytora is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost data arising from your use of Heytora, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other consumer law where you live, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in its courts.
Changes
These terms will change as the product does. Material changes will be dated at the bottom of this page, and anyone with an account will be told before they take effect. If you keep using Heytora after that, the new terms apply.
